Description
A photograph of a cluster of Jellies. These particular jellies are commonly known as
"Sea Nettles" or "Chrysaora" by biologists. From the Greek word "Chrysaor" which literally translates to "He who has a golden armament."
"Chrysaor" (A winged Boar) and his brother "Pegasus" (A winged Horse), were said to both be given life from the spilled blood of Medusa (one of 3 Gorgons or Serpent-haired sisters. Cursed by Athena) when Perseus slayed and beheaded the once beautiful lover of Poseidon. Where some accounts state that they sprung to life as Medusa's blood was spilled onto the earth immediately following her beheading and Other accounts state that they were born when Medusa's blood touched the Aethiopian Sea. As to the correlation between the jellies and the Chrysaor ... I can only imagine that the Jellies Tentacles or Lappets resembles the beautiful, long, flowing, golden hair that that Medusa once had prior to her being transformed into a Gorgon and perhaps her connection to the sea and sea creatures by having had illicit relations with Poseidon the "God of the sea".
